The F101 Summer Season Survival Guide

festival101za | 22 February 2026

How to Survive the Summer Season… Literally. 🔥🌵

Look, we know you’re here for the filthy beats and the 12-hour dancefloor marathons, but let’s be real for a second: the South African sun doesn’t play around. ☀️🥵

Whether you’re a local veteran who’s survived a decade of Bazique dust or a tourist touching down for your first Secret of the Summer, the heat is the one headliner you can’t ignore.

If you want to make it to the final set without looking like a steamed crayfish or passing out in a porta-potty, you’re going to need a game plan.

Here is your F101 guide to surviving the festive heat without losing your gees:

Drink as much as you sweat 💦
This is the golden rule. For every beer or G&T, get a bottle of water down. If you wait until you’re thirsty, you’re already losing. Keep those electrolytes on hand, trust us. Your body will thank you when the sun hits its peak. Plus, as a bonus, the hangover will be way easier the next day.

Sunscreen is non-negotiable 🧴
We’ve seen enough ‘first-day burns’ to last a lifetime. Apply it before you leave, reapply every two hours, and don’t forget your ears and the tops of your feet. The African sun is built different; it will find every inch of exposed skin.

Moisturiser is your best friend 🧴✨
Between the heat, the dust, and the constant dancing, your skin is going to take a beating. Slather on that moisturiser after your post-festival shower to keep from turning into a lizard by Monday.

Dress for the war zone 🧢
Think breathable fabrics, wide-brimmed hats, and polarised shades that actually wrap around. Dark colours might look sleek, but they’re heat magnets. Go for light, loose, and linen if you want to stay breezy.

Scope out the venue 🌳
Find the trees, the stretch tents, and the chill zones. Plan your “rest sets” in the shade so you have the energy to go hard when the temperature finally drops later in the day.

At the end of the day, we’re all here to connect and celebrate, but you can’t do that if you’re in the medical tent. Take care of yourself, look out for your buddies, and let’s keep the energy high ALL summer long! 😌
