Tank Girl

Randburg [South Africa]

Biography

South African DJ Tank Girl has been a fixture of the country’s techno scene for close to two decades, building a reputation for powerful, energetic sets rooted in the underground. As part of the Teknotribe universe, she has become associated with the Johannesburg collective’s uncompromising approach to techno and its long standing commitment to underground electronic music culture.

Her sound is centred around driving peak time techno, heavy basslines and striking vocal elements, combining relentless rhythmic energy with the kind of tension and momentum built for late night dancefloors. Whether delivering a high intensity club set or playing alongside fellow Teknotribe artists, Tank Girl brings a direct and immersive approach that keeps the energy moving.

“Driving techno, heavy basslines and powerful vocals come together in Tank Girl’s uncompromising dancefloor sound.”

A regular presence within the Teknotribe scene, Tank Girl has performed alongside some of South Africa’s leading underground techno artists, including Nick Grater, and has appeared at major Teknotribe events such as Dual Frequency. Her international profile has also continued to grow, with performances in Berlin and a recent debut at Munich’s Palais Club alongside Nick Grater.

Her connection with Teknotribe places her within one of Johannesburg’s longest running underground techno movements. Established in 2003, Teknotribe has played an important role in developing South Africa’s techno culture, championing forward thinking electronic music and creating spaces for both established and emerging artists.

With her uncompromising approach to techno and a sound built for movement, Tank Girl continues to carve out her own space within South Africa’s electronic music landscape while taking the energy of the local underground to dancefloors beyond the country.
