Introduction

HABITAT ~ Arcadian Forest 26′ takes the Habitat experience into the trees, with three days of electronic music set beneath the forest canopy at Matroosberg Nature Reserve near Ceres. The concept is built around an imagined utopian world where people live among the trees, with the surrounding landscape becoming an important part of the festival experience. From Friday midday through Sunday afternoon, the forest hosts a programme led by international electronic artists alongside further acts still to be announced. With camping included, glamping available and daytime activities such as yoga and swimming, Arcadian Forest is designed as a full weekend away rather than a standalone night out.

Artists & Lineup

The lineup at Habitat Arcadian Forest brings together a mix of established international names and a strong selection of South African electronic artists. Emok of Iboga Records, Kaufmann of Drumcode, Senior Citizen from Germany and Temple Tears of Stil Vor Talent lead the bill, joined by Yo-Gurt, Ryan Hill, Audiojerk, Faffa Bruwer, Prlli, X-On, Geometric Flux, Gym Crush, DJ Mark, Jenica, Eazi E, Breaker, Tall Tales, Rosco, Boaba Kieka, Psysters, Rainbow Kimchi, Juno Love, Wata Mami, Smiddie, Paradise Citizen and Goldbeat.

It is a lineup that gives the weekend plenty of range, moving between psychedelic and progressive sounds, techno, deeper electronic cuts and more melodic territory. With familiar names alongside artists worth discovering, the music is set to be a big part of the Habitat experience, with the forest setting adding its own character to the weekend.

Venue

Matroosberg Nature Reserve sits outside Ceres on a working fruit and protea farm, roughly two hours from Cape Town. For Arcadian Forest, the festival occupies the reserve’s forested area, allowing attendees to spend the weekend beneath the canopy and among the surrounding mountain landscape. The venue also has a dam for daytime swimming, while onsite camping and accommodation options make it possible to stay close to the festival environment throughout the weekend.
