Shoemaker
Biography
Shoemaker is a DJ shaped by a lifelong connection to music, having grown up on the east coast of the United States in a family where music was central to everyday life. After leaving the US more than a decade ago, his travels around the world deepened his relationship with sound and rhythm, expanding both his musical perspective and collection. An early obsession with disco records set him on a path of digging, collecting, and playing music with intention and curiosity.
“He aims to spoil listeners with music they are unfamiliar with but find irresistible not to move to.”
Over the years, Shoemaker has held multiple DJ residencies, refining a sound defined by exploration rather than genre boundaries. His sets draw influence from disco, Latin, African, Zouk, and house music, alongside selections from across the global electronic spectrum. Known for his deep crates and thoughtful flow, Shoemaker consistently delivers sets that prioritise groove, discovery, and movement on the dance floor.
Shoemaker has performed at festivals including MCQP, Sexy Groovy Love, Kinky Summer, Rocking the Daisies, and Retreat Yourself, and is a regular presence in Cape Town’s city bowl, where he plays at various venues throughout the year.
