The love of DNB

festival101za | 4 May 2026

Liquicity really brings the magic. It hits that sweet spot between heavy bass and soulful melodies, getting the chest swelling and feet moving all night. February 7th brought that exact frequency to The Ostrich Cape Town, and if you were standing on that dancefloor as the sun began to dip, you felt the rhythm move through the entire crowd as one body.🔥🔥🔥

For those of you who might be unfamiliar, Liquicity is a huge event, but it manages to pull off that scale without ever losing the sense of intimacy. They’ve built a global reputation for creating a space where the barriers between people vanish, and the term ‘Liquicitizens’ really ties it together. That’s the community-created, but coordinator-embraced term they use for the attendees.

Whether you travelled across the globe to be there or just hopped over from the next suburb, once you step into that sound, you are a Liquicitizen; part of the tribe. 🙏 The music at The Ostrich also reflected that sense of mellow connection. The sets went off, don’t get us wrong, but they also maintained a smooth, liquid progression that kept the energy high and the vibes entirely positive.

It was the kind of drum and bass that felt technical enough for the purists, but remained accessible for anyone who just wants to lose themselves in a good groove. All of the technical stuff aside, though, we really love seeing the Liquicity movement grow here in South Africa. It is a festival series that carries a genuine sense of appreciation both within and for the local scene.

They keep the focus on the music and the connection, proving that when the sound is right, you do not need anything else. If you missed the magic at The Ostrich, keep your ears to the ground because the word is that this is only the beginning of their plans for the country. 😌
