Yalla Valhalla

About Yalla Valhalla

Yalla Valhalla is a Cape Town electronic music event brand built around a simple idea: good music, open-minded people and the freedom to lose yourself in the moment. The brand has been hosting events in Cape Town since 2023, developing a distinctive identity around unusual venues, carefully selected DJs and a strong emphasis on acceptance, connection and self-expression. Its events have taken place at landmark locations including the Castle of Good Hope and Lichtenstein Castle in Hout Bay, turning historic spaces into settings for house and electronic music.

Musical Direction

Yalla Valhalla’s sound sits comfortably between house, disco, indie dance and melodic techno, with line-ups designed to move between styles rather than being confined to a single genre. Previous editions have featured international and South African artists including Dirty Doering, Oliver Koletzki, Frida Darko, Noam Leshem, Dean Fuel and Ben Tov, alongside a wider roster of local selectors. The result is a dancefloor that leans towards groove, melody and progressive energy rather than a single rigid electronic music format.

Featured Events

The brand’s flagship event has become Yalla Valhalla at the Castle of Good Hope, an annual Cape Town electronic music event staged in the castle’s rear courtyard. Recent editions have incorporated 3D mapping, visual production, décor, food and interactive elements alongside the music. The 2026 edition featured the event’s largest attendance to date, according to reporting following the event.

Yalla Valhalla has also established a relationship with Lichtenstein Castle, first taking over the Hout Bay venue in 2025 before returning in February 2026 with a line-up headed by German DJ and producer Oliver Koletzki. The brand has also experimented with smaller-format events, including a sunset cruise aboard the Jolly Roger, giving the Yalla Valhalla concept a life beyond conventional festival venues.

A Different Kind of Cape Town Event

One of Yalla Valhalla’s defining characteristics is its choice of setting. Rather than relying solely on traditional clubs or festival grounds, the brand has built events around distinctive locations, from a historic military fortress to a hilltop castle overlooking Hout Bay and an evening on the water. That approach gives each edition its own character while keeping the music at the centre of the experience.

The brand also puts acceptance, radical self-inclusion and good energy at the centre of its identity. Those principles are reflected in the organiser’s own description of Yalla Valhalla as a space where people can connect, let go and feel free in mind and body.

Why Follow Yalla Valhalla

For Cape Town electronic music fans, Yalla Valhalla is worth keeping on the radar for its combination of house and melodic electronic music, international and local DJs, and venues that are rarely used for conventional club nights. From its Castle of Good Hope flagship to Lichtenstein Castle and more experimental events such as its Jolly Roger sunset cruise, the brand continues to find different ways of putting people, music and place together.
