Our Origins
Festival101 was born out of a time of uncertainty and challenge—the global pandemic of 2020. With the world in lockdown, South Africa’s vibrant electronic music festival industry came to a standstill. Events were canceled, artists were sidelined, and vendors struggled to find work. Amid the silence, we saw an opportunity to bring people together in a new way.
Originally launched as a free platform, Festival101 aimed to support the community when it needed it most. We created a hub where vendors, service providers, and artists could showcase their talents and connect with event organizers. It was a space where festival-goers could stay updated on news, dream of future events, and find hope in the return of shared experiences.
As restrictions lifted and the festival scene regained its rhythm, Festival101 evolved to meet the growing needs of its audience. What began as a grassroots initiative is now a comprehensive hub for South Africa’s electronic music festival ecosystem. Today, we connect organizers, artists, vendors, and festival-goers, helping them thrive in a dynamic industry that continues to inspire and unite.
From humble beginnings, Festival101 remains driven by the spirit of collaboration, resilience, and the love of music that first brought us together.
