The event
INTRODUCING GRYPHON-X:
For our PsySailing finale this season, we welcome with open arms the incredible Gryphon-X (Russell Pike), an extremely versatile DJ who can open your party with some light fluffy progressive trance, warm up your midday with some groovy progressive psytrance or charge up your midnight slot with some uplifting full-on sounds. Gryphon-X has been rocking big stages around Cape Town for many years with productions like Vortex Open Source, Earth Dance and Summer camp, gaining popularity as a groove magician on the dance floor.
Even though his sweet spot is in the 142-145bpm range delivering a complete spectrum of sounds in his unlimiting flavour of Psytrance, he can mix things up to match the task he has been given for each event- for PsySailing he will be taking us on a full trance audio journey over 2.5 hours!
As owner and co-founder of Psychedelic Saturdays, resident DJ at MuthaFM and signed Label DJ to MAGMA Records you can be sure that you are getting someone who has a very deep love for Psytrance and all that it stands for. This comes through in Russell’s sets, in his seamless mixing and very strong attention to detail when it comes to creating a valuable journey for those on the dance floor.

The finale sail of this summer season is on Sunday 10th April and offers the unique hybrid of top class Trance and the Ocean, affording you the opportunity to enjoy an intimate party aboard a designer 40ft with:
- Panoramic vistas of the dramatic Atlantic seaboard
- Sunset from out at sea
- Chance close up encounters with the Atlantic marine wildlife
- A gentle cruise to the calm waters of Clifton…or a wild sail to wherever the elements take us!
- Complimentary welcome drinks and random shots
- Canapes and snacks
- A 2.5 hour soundtrack mixed by a music legend
- Booming sound from Flipside events
Setting sail from the V&A Waterfront, we will welcome you dockside at 16h15, ready to cast off at 16h30, and will have you safely ‘reberthed’ after sunset, at 19h00.
