Thaps was born on 14 January 2001 in Johannesburg, South Africa. His love for music and in particular drumming became evident at the age of 3. He started formal lessons at
age 8 and became the youngest member of the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra the following year. Thaps has played alongside MiCasa, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Lira and Danny K. and he has been featured on 94.7 FM. With the Youth Orchestra Thaps performed two years at the Grahamstown Arts festival as well as three times at the SA Tattoo, held at Montecasino.

In May 2020 Thaps released his first pop single ‘Time Away’ featuring Mahachii.

In September 2020 Thaps played his first DJ set at a Charity event at St Johns College, swiftly followed by a set at a Virtual Church Youth Conference streamed online.
He has studied at Rise Academy SA to expand his skill set into music production and management and he is well on his way to becoming one of SA’s most recognized names in the music industry.
