SONA
Biography
South African DJ and producer SONA is one of the most exciting emerging talents in global electronic music. The son of Grammy Award-winning artist Black Coffee, he has quickly stepped into the spotlight by forging his own identity, blending deep house, afro house, and experimental electronic sounds into a refined and forward-thinking style.
Despite being early in his journey, SONA has already made a significant impact, with a musical approach defined by subtle groove, emotional depth, and an instinctive sense of atmosphere. His sets are immersive and carefully curated, reflecting both his heritage and a modern, global perspective on electronic music.
“Music is about feeling, not forcing. I want every set to tell a story that stays with people.”
SONA’s breakout moment came as a producer and co-writer on Drake’s “Texts Go Green” from the album Honestly, Nevermind, which broke Apple Music’s global first-day streaming record and became the platform’s most successful dance album to date. This achievement placed him firmly on the international radar from the very beginning of his career.
His early performance milestones include appearing alongside Black Coffee at the 63rd Grammy Awards and delivering a standout B2B set at Boombox Room in Las Vegas. He has also performed debut international shows in Los Angeles and New York, marking the start of a rapidly expanding global touring footprint.
As he continues to develop his sound and artistic direction, SONA stands out as a new-generation artist driven by authenticity, evolution, and a clear desire to shape his own lane in electronic music.
